Wealthpadi Guide
Everything Wealthpadi does — and how to get the most out of it.
What is Wealthpadi?
Wealthpadi is your financial co-pilot. It brings your whole money picture into one place — what you earn and spend, what you’re saving toward, what you owe, what you’re owed, and what you’ve invested — and turns it into a clear net worth and a realistic “safe-to-spend” number. Maya, the built-in assistant, lets you log money and ask questions in plain language.
Wealthpadi is a tool for organising your own information. It never holds or moves your money, and it doesn’t connect to your bank — you stay in control of what goes in.
Getting started
- Create an account with your email or Google.
- Your currency is detected from your region (e.g. GHS) and every figure is shown in it — there’s no hidden conversion.
- Log your first transaction or just tell Maya (“I spent 40 on lunch”) to see the dashboard come alive.
Your dashboard
The home screen answers “how am I doing?” at a glance:
- Net worth — your total financial position (see How your money adds up below). It’s cumulative, so it carries over month to month.
- Income & Spent — your money flow for the current pay cycle (since your last salary), so a new paycheck starts fresh instead of being dragged down by last cycle’s spending.
- Safe-to-spend — roughly what you can spend per day until your next payday, after bills and money set aside for goals.
- Forecast — a simple look at how your buffer trends toward payday.
Logging money (transactions)
- Add an expense or income with an amount, name, category and date.
- Categories — expenses: Groceries, Dining, Transport, Utilities, Subscription, Health, Housing; income: Salary, Freelance, Business, Investments, Gift, Refund. Anything that doesn’t fit goes to Other, or you can type your own custom category.
- You can edit a transaction’s details or category any time — categories are just labels.
- Paste a bank or MoMo alert. Copy any transaction alert (MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, your bank) into Maya and she reads it for you: the amount, who it went to or came from, and the date, ignoring balances, fees and reference numbers. Paste several alerts at once and each becomes its own entry. On Android, with Wealthpadi installed, you can even select the alert in your SMS app and share it straight to Wealthpadi.
Budgets
Set a monthly cap on any category (say, Dining). Wealthpadi tracks your spend against it so you can see where you stand and catch overspending early.
Subscriptions
Recurring bills (Netflix, DSTV, your gym, software) are tracked separately from one-off expenses, each with its billing day. Wealthpadi totals what they cost you per month and flags ones that look unused, so cancelling the dead weight is easy. Add them from the “+” sheet’s Subscription tab, or just tell Maya a charge is a subscription and she will set it up.
Each charge posts to your activity automatically on the billing day (you will see it the next time you open the app). If Maya sets a subscription up from an alert of a charge that already happened, that charge is logged right away; future cycles then post on schedule.
Goals
A goal is a savings pot. When you contribute to a goal, that money moves from your cash into the pot — it’s a transfer, not an expense, so your net worth doesn’t drop. Open goal pots are counted in your net worth. When you fulfil a goal (spend it on what it was for), any leftover returns to your cash.
Not sure where to start? The Goals screen offers a one-tap emergency fund starter, sized at one month of your own spending. It is the single most useful goal to have.
Debts & loans
- Debts — money you owe (a card balance, a loan). It reduces your net worth until repaid.
- Loans — money you lent someone. Lending moves cash out but stays in your net worth as a receivable (money owed to you) until it’s repaid or written off.
- Open any loan to record a repayment, edit its details (who, how much, the expected repayment date), write it off if they will not pay, or delete it.
Investments
Track holdings and their value as part of your net worth. Listed holdings can follow live market prices, refreshed automatically during the week, so your portfolio value stays current.
The Explore screen shows live prices from your local exchange (GSE, NGX) plus popular global stocks. Tap any stock to add it to your portfolio with the live price already filled in. When adding a listed share by hand, start typing the company and pick it from the suggestions.
Maya, your co-pilot
Maya can:
- Log money by chat — “I got paid 3,000 today” or “spent 122.99 at Heritage yesterday.” Maya prepares the entry and shows an Add card — it’s only saved once you tap Add.
- Track more than spending. Tell her “I lent Kofi 200” and she proposes a loan; “I borrowed 1,500 from Fido” becomes a debt; “my Netflix is 65 a month” becomes a tracked subscription. Each shows its own Add card, and each is recorded the right way (lending is never counted as an expense).
- Take corrections. Before you tap Add, you can say “I bought it today”, “make it Dining”, or “actually this is a loan” and a fresh card appears with the fix.
- Read pasted bank and MoMo alerts and turn them into entries (see Logging money above).
- Answer money questions grounded in your actual data.
- Look up live figures — prices, rates, and currency conversions — and cite the source.
Maya has a daily message allowance (currently 10), which resets at midnight. Logging by the “+” button never counts against it.
Good to know: Maya is an assistant, not a licensed financial adviser. Her responses can be imperfect, so verify anything important before acting. Nothing Maya says is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Always check an Add card’s details before you tap Add.
Notifications
If you opt in, Wealthpadi can send a morning safe-to-spend reminder and a weekly digest with insights. You control these from your device; you can turn them off any time.
How your money adds up
Wealthpadi uses a simple, consistent model:
- Cash = your opening balance + income − expenses − money moved into goals − money lent + money repaid to you.
- Net worth = cash + open goal pots + investments + money owed to you (receivables) − debts.
- Moving money between your own cash and a goal is a transfer, never an expense — so saving never makes you look “poorer.”
On your computer
Wealthpadi is a full desktop app too: open wealthpadi.com/app on a laptop and you get a sidebar, a widescreen dashboard, and keyboard shortcuts: N adds a transaction, / jumps to search, and Esc closes any sheet.
Tips
- Log as you go — the quickest way is to just tell Maya, or paste the alert your bank already sent you.
- Set one or two budgets on the categories you most want to control.
- Give every goal a target so the app can pace your saving.
- Record debts and loans so your net worth reflects reality, not just your bank balance.
