Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Wealthpadi (“Wealthpadi”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our app (the “Service”). We aim to align with recognised data-protection principles, including applicable law such as Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — your name and email when you sign up with email/password, or the name, email, and profile info shared by Google when you sign in with Google.
• Financial information you enter — transactions, budgets, goals, holdings, debts, loans, your chosen currency, and similar data you add to organise your finances.
• Business book, if you keep one: your sales, costs, stock, money customers owe you, and the names of any customers or suppliers you choose to record.
• Chat content — the messages you send to Maya and, where relevant, a snapshot of your financial data used to answer you.
• Technical & usage data — device and browser information, push-notification tokens (if you enable notifications), and basic activity needed to run and secure the Service.

2. How we use your information

• Provide and operate the Service and compute your summaries, budgets, and net worth.
• Power Maya’s responses and personalise guidance to your data.
• Send notifications you have chosen to receive (e.g. safe-to-spend reminders).
• Email you our blog posts and occasional announcements. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect your account.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
• Improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. AI processing

To generate Maya’s replies, your chat messages and a snapshot of your financial data are sent to third-party AI model providers. The snapshot holds your figures and the names you gave things (such as a goal, a debt, or a person who owes you) and your recent transactions. It does not include your email address. When Maya looks up live information (such as prices or rates), the relevant search query may be sent to a third-party search provider. The AI providers use what we send only to produce a reply, and under their terms they do not train their models on it. Some may keep a request for up to 30 days to investigate errors or abuse, and then delete it.

To improve Maya, we may keep anonymized copies of conversations (your message and Maya’s reply, and any rating you give) that are not linked to your identity — no name, email, or account id is stored with them. We use these only to find and fix where Maya gives weak answers, never to identify you. Because they are not linked to you, we cannot find them to delete them with your account, so we delete every one of them automatically after 90 days. If you type something personal into a chat, such as a name, it stays in that copy until then.

4. Legal bases

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent (for example, push notifications), and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.

5. Sharing & service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run the Service, under agreements to protect it:

• Database & authentication hosting (stores your account and data securely);
• AI model provider(s) (generate Maya’s responses);
• Market-data & web-search provider (live figures Maya quotes);
• Push-notification services (Apple, Google, and/or Expo) if you enable alerts;
• Email delivery (Resend), which holds your name and email to send our emails;
• Website analytics (Google Analytics), only if you agree, on our public website;
• Application hosting for the app and API.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

6. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected in line with this Policy.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or ask us to erase your data, we delete it, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations. Two things are kept apart from your account: the anonymous Maya copies described in section 3, deleted after 90 days, and the optional, anonymous reason you can give when you delete your account. Our email provider may keep a record of emails it already sent you.

8. Security

We use measures such as encryption in transit and per-user access controls so you can only access your own data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Only a small number of authorised people at Wealthpadi can look at account data, and only to fix a problem you report or to keep the Service secure.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may access, correct, or delete your data, ask for a copy of it, withdraw consent, or object to certain processing. You can edit and delete data, or your whole account, directly in the app. To get a copy of your data or exercise any other right, email us at admin@wealthpadi.com.

10. Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Cookies & local storage

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your notification and install choices. On our public website, and only if you say yes when we ask, we also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies, to see how many people visit and which pages they use. It never runs inside the app. To change your answer, clear this site’s data in your browser and we will ask again. We do not use cookies for advertising.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app where appropriate.
